On the morning of 14th June, 2026, our classes 9a and 9b met up at the HGT to start our journey to England. The teachers travelling with us were Ms. Baumgarten, Ms. Adams, Ms. Wingender and Mr. Fuhrmann. Once we said our good byes to our parents and hopped on the bus, the fun began.
We listened to music, played games and had a lot of fun on the bus ride. Around 8pm, we arrived in Hastings and we were introduced to our host families who were all very welcoming and pleased to meet us and have us over.
The first day, we were picked up at our bus pick-up points and we drove to Dover. There we visited the beautiful Dover Castle which is a must-see tourist attraction when visiting England. Later we took the bus to Canterbury and there, our teachers gave us free time to shop and eat whatever we liked. After this, we quickly went to a local grocery store before getting back on the bus and going back to our host families.
On Tuesday, it was time for London. The coach picked us up at each pick-up point and we were back on the road. Once we arrived in London, everybody was stunned by the London life and vibe: tall skyscrapers, hundreds of vehicles and people were everywhere to be seen. We also went on the Tube so that we could explore this ginormous city in a few hours. We saw the Big Ben, the Borough market and many other attractions. Once we arrived at Leicester Square, we were given free time to explore parts of London and also shop, eat and take a break. After meeting up again, we got back on our bus and drove back to Hastings.
On Wednesday we had our little ‘‘Wandertag‘‘. We drove to Eastbourne to walk its beautiful and breathtaking cliffs which were very high up. We hiked for about an hour and a half before going down to the beach and feeling the chilly breeze of the sea which was very needed considering how warm it was in England during our stay. After having finished the hike, we got back on the bus and drove to Brighton. There we shopped, had food and completed a city ralley before going back. Once we arrived back in Hastings, we went to our host families and took the first chance we got to lie down because of how much we walked the entire day.
Thursday was unfortunately our last day in England and on this day, we decided to explore Hastings a bit more. First we were given a tour of this charming town by a very nice tour guide who answered all of our questions about this place and then watched a funny and interactive play which was called “Who are the English?”.
In the afternoon we got on our bus and started our journey back to Trier which was very long and exhausting but also a lot of fun. Hearing all of us students happily talking about the England class trip showed just how much fun we had and how this trip brought us all closer together. Thank you so much to our amazing teachers, Ms.Feld and also our parents for planning and making this school trip possible and very enjoyable for classes 9a and 9b!
